Janelle Washburne, MSW,LCSW
Background Information:
Whether it's couples counseling or individual therapy, I practice a client centered approach where we work together
to reach your own personal goals. I am dedicated to helping others enhance their own strengths, develop new strategies and
tools that can empower them and make change possible immediately. I use a Systemic approach as well as, Cognitive Behaviorial
Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy techniques during our sessions. I also use evidence
based practices, which means that research supports the techniques and ideas used in therapy. We collaborate to work at your
pace to achieve your goals and positive life changes in a supportive, compassionate way.
I have earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University and a Master of Social Work
(MSW) degree from the University of Denver with a clinical focus on counseling couples and families. I am currently
a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I have earned a certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy at the Denver
Family Institute. This included completing two years of post-graduate course work, clinical experience as well as individual
and group supervision.
I have also received additional training as a Sex Therapist through the Florida
Sex Therapy Institute as well as through the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT). I am a member of AAMFT (American Associaion of Marriage and Family Therapists), COAMFT (Colorado Association of Marriage
and Family Therapists, and AASECT (American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists).
To offer the
most up to date tools and strategies, I continue my education by attending several workshops and conferences throughout
the year.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with
my husband of 27 years and our two sons. I also love to spend time with my friends, reading and playing with our dog,
Auggie.
